Digital Music Forum East To Examine Top-Trending Topics in NYC

The two-day Digital Music Forum East conference is happening in NYC next week. Panel discussions will involve high-level speakers from several of the major labels, live and digital music and marketing companies like The Echo Nest, ReverbNation, Live Nation, MTV Mobile, Thumbplay, Creative Artists Agency, stormcrowd, LimeWire and OurStage, Inc. Hosted by Digital Media Wire and the Consumer Electronics Association, Digital Music Forum East will kick off at noon on Wednesday (2/24) and close with a LimeWire-sponsored party from 6-8 on Thursday (2/25). The conference will be held at NYC’s Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park City, Lower Manhattan.

Day One highlights include: Research Presentations: Top Digital Music Trends featuring Russ Crupnick of The NPD Group, Ted Mico or InterscopeGeffenA&M and Brian Whitman of The Echo Nest; a discussion on the State of the Digital Union with Cameo Carlson of Universal Motown Republic Group, Kevin Bacon of AWAL (Artists Without A Label), Daniel Glass of Glassnote; and break-out roundtable discussions on Music Discovery, led by Adam Wexler of Rank ‘em, the Future of Mobile Entertainment, led by Jeff Sass of Myxer and Dick Wingate of TAG Strategic, and European Laws and Regulations Impacting Digital Music Businesses, led by lawyers Hans Bousie and Rob van Dongen.

The afternoon panel on Brands & Bands will gather speakers from Creative Artists Agency, OMD Ignition Factory, Havas Digital and Live Nation.

Day Two highlights include panels on: The Concert Business: How Technology is Changing the Business with Harlan Frey of Roadrunner, John Rubey of AEG Network Live, Steve Machin of stormcrowd and Vito Iaia of Ticketmaster; Licensing for Film & Television and What are the Opportunities in the Years to Come, with Barry Massarsky of ASCAP, David Zierler of INgrooves and David Leibowitz of SirGroovy; and panels on The Digital Copyright Debate and Global Music Marketing in the Digital Age.

Among the afternoon highlights is a Games & Music panel discussing current and future opportunities for composers and rights holders to sell and promote music through video games.
