The Lodge’s Emily Lazar & Joe LaPorta Master “Massive” New Foo Fighters Album

The Foo Fighters recently finished their seventh studio album with mastering sessions at The Lodge in NYC. The band attended the session with producer Butch Vig and NYC-based engineer James Brown.

Co-mastered by The Lodge’s Chief Mastering Engineer Emily Lazar and Mastering Engineer Joe LaPorta, the new album is reported their heaviest to date. It also marks Grohl and Vig’s first reunion since Nirvana’s Nevermind in 1991.

Recorded and mixed entirely to analog tape, the album features guest appearances by Bob Mould and reunites Grohl with former Nirvana band members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.

Dave Grohl explained to MTV News, “There’s 11 songs and, front to back, there’s not one sleepy ballad. The fact that we did it without any computers, it was just really simple. It just sounds massive.”
