Jeff Buckley Biopic, Itaal Shur & Dave Eggar at Threshold Recording Studios

Long-standing NYC studio Threshold Recording has been hosting friend-of-the-studio Mary Guibert (Jeff Buckley Music) and director Jake Scott in casting sessions for the upcoming authorized Jeff Buckley biopic – including sessions with Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark star Reeve Carney, who has evidently been cast in the leading role.

Buckley and his band rehearsed out of Threshold’s space on 41st Street until his untimely death in 1997. The legendary singer/songwriter was both friend and inspiration to the studio’s founders – James Walsh and AJ Maltese. And his legacy continues at Threshold through its ongoing mentorship, facility and studio relationship with Road Recovery, a non-profit organization founded by former Buckley manager and road manager Jack Bookbinder, and Gene Bowen. Outside of the Buckley biopic news, Threshold’s been busy with a variety of recording sessions in the last couple months, including…

Producer Heather Holley working with songwriter/artist Itaal Shur and singer Tabitha Fair on various songwriting and production sessions, and cellist Dave Eggar working with Threshold producers James Walsh and Jeremy Sklarsky (Freelance Whales, Diane Birch) on several in house productions including records with Patty Dess and Mike Billiot.

Threshold has also hosted “oodles of Rock and Roll Royalty” all to participate in the sold out Road Recovery 2011 Benefit Concert honoring guitar great Slash. And Denis Leary and The Enablers recorded a few new songs for their upcoming Comedy Central Records release with producer/engineer Jeremy Sklarsky.

Also, several whirlwind sessions with rock/jazz pioneer Eric Lewis (ELEW) in the house working on various projects with engineers Alan Labiner and Sklarsky.
