Audio Post Moves: Sound Designer Eric Hoffman Back to audioEngine

The major audio post house audioEngine announced that multifaceted sound designer Eric Hoffman has rejoined their team, and will be based out of their NYC facility.

Sound designer and mixer Eric Hoffman has returned to audioEngine.

In this latest update to the constantly shifting NYC audio post landscape, Hoffman’s second stint with audioEngine comes after a two-year hiatus, which he spent traveling the world and working freelance on a number of high-visibility projects. Hoffman was originally with audioEngine from 2006-2010, where he developed a reputation as a fast-moving audio post recordist, sound designer and mixer.

The return also comes with an upgrade in status for Hoffman, who departed as a senior assistant, but now settles in as a “full-up” mixer at audioEngine’s 12,000 sq. ft., six-studio NYC facility.

He joins audioEngine’s partners Bob Giammarco, Tom Goldblatt, Rex Recker, and Brian Wick; mixer/sound designers Kelly Harnett, Carl Mandelbaum, and Brian Beatrice; and composer Jason Camiolo.

While working outside of audioEngine, Hoffman’s advertising portfolio grew to include projects with Young & Rubicam, MTV, Fall On Your Sword and Mackenzie Cutler, with contributions on spots for the likes of Wal-Mart, Victoria’s Secret, Nintendo, Quiznos, KGB, 2K Games, Castrol and History Channel.

Outside of the advertising space, Hoffman has worked extensively with Beyoncé for the past two years, performing sound design and mix duties for video content and live performances in conjunction with the star singer’s production company Parkwood Pictures. His work for Parkwood includes two long-form concert DVDs, one of which was nominated for a 2011 Grammy in the “Best Long Form Music Video” category.

Hoffman worked on sound design and mixing for three feature films in 2011: Run To The East, Papirosen, and Not Waving But Drowning. He also took part in several short films, including Tokyo Rising and Snowballs, directed by Harmony Korine.
