Rupert Neve Designs Debuts 551 – 500 Series Inductor EQ

From the hand of the man, comes yet another audio first.

Rupert Neve himself created every nook and cranny of the Rupert Neve Designs 551 Series Inductor EQ – the first and only 500 series EQ that he has designed.

Our forecast: The 551 will sound tasty. It features three bands of EQ inspired by Rupert’s most highly sought-after vintage designs, plus niceties like custom-wound inductors, transformers and class-A gain blocks. According to RND, the result sonics are characterized by thick, powerful lows and sweet highs – all in a 500 format.

What’s more, the 551 is reminiscent of the classic Neve 3-band EQ feature set, with a custom inductor, switched frequencies and a High Pass filter. Traditional transformer-coupled inputs and outputs designed specifically for the 500 Series are employed, boosting the unit’s technical performance while it optimizes musical reproduction performance.

The 551 begins shipping in late January 2014 (a.k.a next week), with a US list price of $950. Get an earful of additional information on this landmark EQ by visiting the RND Website.
