Event Alert: AMP Awards Celebrates Music For Advertising, Iconic Brands, at City Winery (5/7)

The second annual AMP Awards for Music and Sound will take place at City Winery next week – May 7 – in NYC. This is the Association of Music Producers’ annual gala event, which honors excellence in music for advertising, branding and media, and is a major hang for ad music producers, music houses and composers, music supervisors and brand marketing execs. At this year’s event, Budweiser and Nike will be honored for their “Outstanding Achievement in the Use of Music to Define the Brand”. The two iconic brands will be inducted into AMP’s Hall of Fame, joining last year’s inductees McDonald’s and The Coca-Cola Company.

In addition to the trophy presentations in 12 categories including “Best Original Song,” “Outstanding Adaptation,” “Best Use of a Licensed Song,” “Outstanding Sound Design”, “Sonic Branding” and more, the evening will feature live performances by Capitol Records artist Sky Ferreira and Island Records band American Authors, who’s single “Best Day of My Life” has been heard in spots for Lowe’s and Toyota in the U.S. and Hyundai in the UK, as well as on promos for Major League Baseball broadcasts, the History Channel and the CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones.

The 2014 AMP Awards Advisory Board is chaired by Rani Vaz (BBDO), and includes a group of executives from the agency, music label, music publishing and advertiser communities who bring their insight to the competition and to the awards’ judging process. That group includes Nick Felder, Group Director, Film and Music Production for The Coca-Cola Company; Josh Rabinowitz, EVP/Director of Music, Grey Worldwide; Keith D’Arcy, Creative Licensing & Catalog Acquisition, SONGS Publishing; Mark Huffman, Executive Production Manager, Procter & Gamble; Eric Korte, VP, Director of Music, Saatchi & Saatchi; and more.
