iZotope Releases Ozone 6.1 Update – Tube Limiting, Adaptive Release for Dynamics Module and More

Ozone 6 from iZotope was launched back in October, 2014 and now officially has its first patch. Many of the feature updates for Ozone 6.1 were a result of customer feedback so users should be pleased with iZotope’s offering in the free update.

Two main features include Tube Limiting and Adaptive Release. Tube Limiting does as one might guess – add emulated tube warmth to the limiting stage. Adaptive Release is a feature of the Dynamics module – release can now be intelligently set by Ozone.

These are just a few of the updates so owners would be wise to nab their update to discover the rest.

Ozone 6.1 update is free for current owners. For those in the market, Ozone 6 is available for Mac and PC, and comes in two flavors: Ozone 6 – $199 ($249 MSRP), and Ozone 6 Advanced – $599 ($999 MSRP). Both are on sale until April 9th! Here are more details on iZotope’s Ozone update:

New Ozone 6.1 features include Tube Limiting and Adaptive Release modes.

Users can add an analog-type sound with the Maximizer’s new Tube Limiting mode, which combines the warmth of final stage limiting with the ease and precision of digital maximizing. The resulting audio has a tube warmth while remaining competitively loud and appropriate for modern mastering. With a new algorithm inspired by tube hardware limiters like the Fairchild 670, the Tube Limiter adds a vintage sonic character to Ozone’s maximizing algorithm.

Adaptive Release helps users produce louder, clearer, and fuller masters. This mode for Ozone’s Dynamics module intelligently automates the difficult task of finding the right release times. The compressor actually interacts with the audio in real time, adjusting the release values based on the transient properties of the incoming signal.

Based on customer feedback, iZotope has also brought back Module Presets, a highly requested feature from customers who owned previous versions of Ozone. Module Presets help users to experiment with different module settings. Users can more easily load and save settings for individual modules without affecting the settings of other modules.

Other additions and enhancements to Ozone 6.1 include selectable segmentation loops, automatic track numbers on export, and sound quality improvements.
