Another all-steel, book-enclosed module is brought to us by Radial.

Radial Engineering's McBoost is powered by 48V phantom power.

Radial Engineering’s McBoost is powered by 48V phantom power.

The McBoost is a dual FET class-A circuit for boosting low-output dynamic and ribbon microphones. McBoost provides up to 25 dB of boost, coupled with a 3-position high pass filter to eliminate any accumulated, undesired low end.

One unique feature of the McBoost is the 3-position impedance selector to optimize the load on the mic for greater accuracy or fun effect.

Radial’s own Jay Porter mentions that the booster is an ideal choice for microphones like the Shure SM7, as it was originally designed for broadcast and can lose some of the detail with a standard dB drive from a console preamp (around 50 – 60 dB).

Other application includes use in the broadcast or live domain for driving signal across long cables.

The McBoost is available now for $199.99 MSRP.
