Genelec Debuts 1236 Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) Main Monitor System

Genelec’s Smart Active Monitoring line adds functionality not typically found in studio monitors, let alone far-fields.

The SAM™ tech can measure the response of the listening area to compensate for acoustical anomalies...also, they're huge.

The SAM tech can measure the response of the listening area to compensate for acoustical anomalies…also, they’re huge.

Their new 1236 monitor is utilizes Genelec’s RAM-XL Remote Amplifier Module, housing digital algorithms and class D analog circuitry for amplifying, setting cross-over points, and ensuring low distortion, low self-generated noise, and more.

The features of the monitors themselves include:

  • 18” Dual woofer design extends directivity control to low frequencies.
  • Genelec AutoCal measures the response in the listening area and applies relevant compensation in the low and low-mid frequencies to minimize the detrimental room acoustic anomalies as well as the differences between various listening positions.
  • Complete solution-oriented Smart Active Monitoring systems eliminate guesswork in system configuration and acoustic performance.
  • Sustainability and green values. Efficient use of materials, low energy consumption and extremely long lifetime by design. Genelec Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS™) switches the system to standby when no audio input is detected, providing significant power consumption savings.
  • Genelec GLM computer control enables easy and fast setup of all sizes of monitoring systems for repeatable, consistent performance.

The SAM enabled 1236 Monitors from Genelec’s release date is TBA. For more details, check out Genelec’s product page.
