Billboard: Are GRAMMY Awards Returning to NYC in 2018?

It’s been so long since the GRAMMY Awards were held in NYC, it’s easy to forget that they were ever an East Coast event.

But the American music industry’s flagship celebration could indeed be headed back to the Big Apple, perhaps as soon as next year for the first time since 2004. The smoking gun? A major real estate purchase by GRAMMY parent company NARAS in Manhattan, according to a Billboard article by Andrew Flanagan.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), parent company of the Grammys, recently completed the purchase of a mansion, a source familiar with the purchase has confirmed to Billboard. The building, which the New York Post reported yesterday (Jan. 3) evening to be worth $13.5 million, is located at 21 E. 37th St., near Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood.

Will the Album of the Year trophy be hoisted next in Madison Square Garden? See the full article here.
