Burl Audio Announces Three New Cards for the B16 & B80 Motherships

New Burl Card

The BAD8, a new 8-input option for the B16 and B80 Mothership converters.

Burl Audio has just announced the release of three new options for the B80 and B16 Mothership interfaces: The BAD8, an 8-channel A/D daughter card, the BMB4 Motherboard with SoundGrid, and the BMB5, a B16-only Motherboard with USB connectivity.

The BAD8, is an 8-channel analog-to-digital daughter card for the B80 and B16 Motherboard, offering double the input channels previously available in a single slot.

Following on the success of the B2 Bomber ADC and the original BAD4 input card for the Mothership line, the BAD8 employs a next-generation analog circuit path and the latest in analog-to-digital conversion.

This “no-compromise design” employs an all class-A, discrete transistor circuit path and the “legendary” BX1 transformer coupled input. The BAD8 benefits from the new compact form factor of the BX1 transformer, allowing for more channel density.  The BAD8 also boasts the latest analog-to-digital conversion technology giving it great tone with even greater detail and amazing low latency.

Burl will continue to offer the BAD4, 4-channel ADC card for those who prefer its classic Burl sound.  The BAD4 remains an exact copy of the B2 Bomber ADC, and the BAD4 and B2 Bomber ADC will continue to remain the same.  The new BAD8 will be available February 2017.

The new BMB4 Motherboard card features an Ethernet port for 64 IO channels of Waves SoundGrid connectivity.

SoundGrid, an Audio-over-Ethernet networking and processing technology developed by Waves, provides extremely low-latency, high channel count and audio processing using standard Intel CPUs and 1 Gbps Ethernet networks for studio, live sound, and other real-time professional audio applications. Real-time audio processing is performed on standard Intel-based plugin servers, running a Waves-customized real-time version of Linux.

Mick Olesh, Waves EVP of Sales & Marketing, comments, “Waves are delighted at the inclusion of Waves SoundGrid technology in BURL AUDIO’s BMB4, thus expanding its capabilities and substantially increasing its ability to network easily.”

The BMB4 will be available in March 2017.

The BMB5 is a new Motherboard for the B16 and features USB connectivity. Designed exclusively for the B16, the BMB5 provides an easy interface to any computer via USB.

If you don’t need high channel count, the B16 with the BMB5 is a great way to go with a BAD8 and BDA8. The BMB5 will be available in April 2017.
