New Gear Alert: Clariphonic MS by Kush, Floating-Band EQ from Waves, Drumforge Mix Bundle & More

The Clariphonic MS from Kush is now available.

Clariphonic MS is a more comprehensive version of its predecessor, most notably sporting a new Mid/Side matrix.

Clariphonic MS is an expanded version of the extremely popular Clariphonic EQ, featuring identical sonics and a slew of new functional enhancements that transform it into a more powerful and flexible processor.

The centerpiece of the upgrades is a selectable internal Mid/Side matrix which allows for more sophisticated EQ treatments than the familiar L/R operation. Clariphonic MS can also convert an entire rack of conventional signal processors into an MS powerhouse by way of the two MS insert jacks on the back of the unit, which allow any stereo processor to function in Mid/Side mode by inserting them between the Mid/Side encoder and decoder.

Other new features include 41-step detented pots for fast and accurate recall, a single relay-based Master Bypass switch, and the ability to switch the midrange Focus bands into Cut mode, allowing for a thoroughly modern twist on the classic Pultec-style push-pull on the treble.

Clariphonic MS sells for $2,199 MSRP ($1999 MAP), and is available at authorized Kush Audio dealers worldwide.

Waves announces the F6 floating-band dynamic EQ plugin is now available.

Each band of the F6 contains EQ and dynamic controls that enable you to treat problems only when they arise—not across your entire track at all times.

The Waves F6 is a surgical dynamic equalizer with six floating, fully-adjustable parametric filter bands, advanced EQ and compression/expansion controls per band, Mid/Side processing options and more.

It can be used for diverse equalization, compression, expansion and de-essing processes, whether you’re mixing or mastering, in the studio or live. Each of the six floating bands contains advanced EQ and dynamic controls that let you zero in on any problem spot—and treat it only when the problem arises.

Rather than treating a frequency one time and then leaving it there for the entire track, the Waves F6 combines equalization with compression/expansion, such that the EQ is sensitive to the dynamics of your track. This way you can select not only by how much, but also precisely when a specific frequency will be boosted or cut, compressed or expanded.

F6 is available now for $29.

Dave Smith Instruments is now shipping Prophet Rev2 16-voice analog poly synth.

In addition to an expanded modulation matrix, the Prophet Rev2 features twice the polyphony of its predecessor, along with scores of other exciting new features.

Prophet Rev2 is the successor to the popular Prophet ’08 poly synth by Dave Smith Instruments. Like its predecessor, the Prophet Rev2 features two DCOs per voice, and Curtis filters at the heart of its sound engine, but boasts a number of significant enhancements designed to make it more powerful.

The most obvious difference between the Prophet Rev2 and its predecessor is polyphony. The Prophet Rev2 has 16 voices as its standard configuration—twice the polyphony of the Prophet ’08. (An 8-voice option is also available, as is a voice expansion card for 8-voice users wishing to upgrade to 16 voices at a later date.)

Since the synth features bi-timbral operation, two completely independent sounds can be stacked or split (layered together or assigned to two different zones on the keyboard).

Additional features include waveshape modulation, a sub oscillator per voice, digital effects, a modulation matrix twice as extensive as its predecessor, a polyphonic step sequencer that allows up to 64 steps and up to 6 notes per step, a gated sequencer that provides 4 different 16-step sequences for complex modulation, and an arpeggiator. Other improvments include a premium-quality, five-octave, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch, an integrated power supply, USB support, and a crisp OLED display.

The 16-voice Prophet Rev2 is available now for $1,999; the 8-voice version for $1,499. The 8-voice expansion card is available for $599.

EastWest and Fishman collaborate to unlock your guitar’s potential with new EastWest MIDI Guitar Instruments Series.

EastWest MIDI Guitar features five volumes: Orchestra, Ethnic & Voices, Soundscapes, Guitar & Bass and Keys & Percussion.

EastWest has teamed up with Fishman, creator of the multi-award winning TriplePlay® Wireless MIDI Guitar Controller, to develop a series of virtual instruments specifically for MIDI guitarists.

The new EastWest MIDI Guitar Instruments Series is different from the current EastWest virtual sounds, which are optimized for keyboards, in that they have been selected and designed to take advantage of the complex and unique waveforms produced by a guitar’s vibrating strings.

Current Fishman TriplePlay® users will notice the EastWest instruments do not have to be loaded for each string. EastWest has included a system that loads the instruments on all strings at the same time, greatly reducing the computer resources required, and especially if the instrument uses SSL EQ/Compression, Ohmicide multi-band distortion, EastWest Convolution reverb, or EastWest Amp Simulator, included in the EastWest PLAY software for each collection.

The EastWest MIDI Guitar Series has been released as 5 volumes: Orchestra, Ethnic & Voices, Soundscapes, Guitar & Bass and Keys & Percussion.

Pricing for the EastWest MIDI Guitar Instruments Series is $179 per collection ($159 introductory offer).
