New Gear Alert: Moog’s Subsequent 37 Synth, Free Accusonus Regroover Plugin, ‘Late Replies’ Delay by Blue Cat & More

Moog introduces the Subsequent 37 synthesizer.

Moog’s production of the Sub 37 may have come to an end, but the Subsequent 37 is picking up right where it left off, featuring an updated sound engine, upgraded keybed and more.

Moog has announced that the award-winning Sub 37 Paraphonic Analog Synthesizer has been discontinued from production to make way for a new standard: the Subsequent 37. Implementing the upgraded sonic modifications and functional improvements found in the limited-edition Subsequent 37 CV (minus the aluminum aesthetic and CV outputs), the new Subsequent 37 will become the standard production model moving forward.

The Subsequent 37 is a (2-note) paraphonic analog synthesizer with double the mixer headroom of the Sub 37. This provides access to a new range of classic clean tones in both mono and duo performance modes. Leveraging the mixer’s newfound flexibility, the gain-staging of the Ladder filter has been reshaped to boost harmonic saturation and analog compression, resulting in an overall richer low end. Completing the sonic evolution of the Subsequent 37 is a re-tuned Multidrive circuit that extends well beyond the grit and growl of the original Sub 37.

In addition to the sound engine augmentation, each Subsequent 37 comes with an upgraded keybed for improved playability, a high-powered headphone amplifier strong enough to drive the most demanding headphones, and a software plugin/editor for both Windows and Mac platforms.

The Subsequent 37 is already shipping from Moog and currently available through Moog dealers worldwide for $1,499.

Regroover Essential is an award-winning, unique plugin and creative tool that can transform drum loops and samples into new beats and grooves, create endless variations, or allow sounds to be remixed and isolated inside a stereo loop.

Regroover uses Artificial-Intelligence to extract layers from within previously recorded beats and samples. Regroover can unmix loops into distinct sound layers to isolate sounds, uncover previously inaccessible sounds from inside loops, and create new beats and music from the isolated loop elements.

Dave Smith Instruments unveils the Prophet Rev2 Desktop module.

Dave Smith Instruments’ Prophet Rev2 is a popular choice among synth enthusiasts, and soon you can enjoy the same comprehensive set of features in a smaller-format desktop version: The Prophet Rev2 Desktop.

Dave Smith Instruments has announced that they will begin shipping a desktop module version of their popular Prophet Rev2 analog synthesizer in October. Like the keyboard version, it features two DCOs per voice, Curtis filters, plus two types of sequencers, digital effects, and other enhancements designed to make it even more powerful that its predecessor, the now-retired Prophet ’08.

The essence of the Prophet Rev2’s sound comes from two DCOs per voice with four waveshapes (sawtooth, triangle, sawtooth + triangle, and pulse), a sub-octave generator, and a 2/4 pole low-pass, resonant Curtis filter per voice. A new feature unique to the Prophet Rev2 is waveshape modulation. You can vary the “pulse width” of any of the four waveforms by manually dialing in a desired waveshape width or by using an LFO or other modulation source for continuously shifting timbre.

An effects section provides reverb, delays (standard and BBD), chorus, phase shifter, ring modulation, and distortion. The new polyphonic step sequencer allows up to 64 steps and up to 6 notes per step. The arpeggiator features note repeats, re-latching, and can be synced to external MIDI clock as well. Other improvements include a premium-quality, five-octave, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch, an integrated power supply, USB support, and a crisp OLED display.

The Prophet Rev2 desktop module will be available in October 2017 for $1,799. An 8-voice version will be available for $1,299.

Audified announces availability of Klangfilm valve EQ module models, the RZ062 Equalizer plugin bundle.

Audified pays homage to the revered Siemens Klangfilm RZ062a and RZ062b valve EQ modules with the RZ062 Equalizer plugin bundle, offering vintage EQ mojo for miles.

The RZ062 Equalizer plugin bundle by Audified is based around the authentic namesake models of the now-scarce and sought-after ’60s Klangfilm RZ062a and RZ062b valve EQ modules made by German giant Siemens.

By breathing new life into old Klangfilm RZ062a and RZ062b valve EQ modules in the RZ062A and RZ062B plugins—executed to suit present-day production workflow needs—Audified has authentically emulated over 200 circuit components, including three triodes, plus input and output transformers.

The RZ062 Equalizer bundle is available for purchase here at an introductory promo price of $149 until September 10, 2017—rising to $199 thereafter.
