The Heritage Audio HA-609A is a modern, improved take on the classic tracking/mixing diode bridge compressor. The HA-609A offers several improvements brought in to accommodate the modern workflow. While some classic iterations of this design utilized some IC chips and a class A/B amplifier stage, the HA-609A features an entirely discrete, class A design and a total of three Carnhill/St Ives transformers per channel.

Thanks to a proprietary system of diode bridge matching, the HA-609A has better channel matching than any earlier incarnations; the use of rotary switches and high quality, stepped pots allow for easy recall and maintain a perfect stereo image. The addition of a fast attack mode for both the compressor and limiter section allow the HA-609A the flexibility to handle individual tracks as well as groups and 2-bus program material, making it the perfect choice for both tracking and mixing.

The Heritage Audio HA-609A is scheduled to ship worldwide this month, with an estimated street price of $1,799.

iZotope releases a new, free version of Ozone Imager.

iZotope’s updated Ozone Imager expands upon its Stereoizing capabilities—and it’s on offer for free.

Updated with technology from its premier mastering software Ozone 9, the updated Ozone Imager adds a new “Stereoize II” mode, which gives you more options for creating natural stereo effects. Rebuilt with immersive, fluid visuals, full resizability, and new processing, the new version of Ozone Imager allows you even more flexibility to easily shape tracks in stereo to add natural width to vocals and synths, or create narrow sources to focus bass and drums.

Make pianos, synths, and cymbals fill up the stereo image, or tighten up low end by narrowing bass and kick drums. Avoid unbalanced or washy results with multiple metering options that can identify if the mix is too wide, too narrow, or out of phase—now updated with smoother visualizations and full resizability.
