Acon Digital updates Mastering Suite to version 1.1.

Acon Digital expands their popular Mastering Suite to version 1.1, featuring key upgrades and added support for Catalina.

Acon Digital has updated their Mastering Suite, consisting of five mastering plugins, to version 1.1. The plugins were designed for maximum signal transparency and an intuitive workflow. The macOS version now supports Catalina.

Dynamics is a combined compressor, expander or gate with powerful sidechain filtering. It now offers a new auto-release mode that dynamically changes the release time depending on the audio material. A new Range control makes it possible to limit the maximum gain reduction during dynamic processing.

Multiband Dynamics is the multiband extension of Dynamics which allows dynamic processing in up to four separate bands. In addition to the linear phase processing previously available, version 1.1 introduces mixed phase filtering, which reduces pre-ringing—a well-known problem with linear phase filtering.

Limit is a transparent limiter that reduces distortion to a minimum. The limiting is performed in a two-step process with a pre-compressor followed by the actual peak limiting algorithm. Just like the Dynamics plugin, the pre-compressor has a new auto-release mode that adapts the release time to the audio material.

Also included in the suite are the versatile equalizer plugin Equalize 2 and Dither, a dithering plugin with flexible perceptual noise shaping. All plugins now offer a search button in the preset manager that makes it easy to type and find plugin presets.

Mastering Suite 1.1 is available now in the Acon Digital Store. The upgrade is free for current Mastering Suite customers. Mastering Suite is priced at $129.90, but is on sale now for $99.90 until March 1st, 2020.

Vicoustic turns 250 tons of plastic recyclables into acoustic panels.

The use of VicPET Wool has enabled Vicoustic to repurpose massive amounts of plastic waste into acoustical treatment.

Since they started using VicPET Wool as raw material, Vicoustic has turned the equivalent to over 22 million 500ml PET bottles into acoustic treatment. With VicPET Wool as the new primary raw material, Vicoustic is becoming a game-changer in the acoustic panels market. Consisting of mainly recycled plastic waste (65%), VicPET Wool is specifically designed to optimize acoustic performance while not adding glue, fabric, or chemical fire retardant.

Since Vicoustic started production with this new raw material, the company has manufactured state-of-the-art acoustic panels using more than 250 tons of plastic waste, equivalent to roughly 22 million standard PET bottles (500ml) being recycled.

Through extensive research and testing, Vicoustic fine-tuned this material into Virtual Material Technology (VMT), using an innovative dyeing technology, which allows simulating concrete, marble, wood, and other materials. It is washable, resistant, and easy to cut. It also provides a great acoustic solution to implement in any setting, ranging from recording studios and home theaters to workspaces, hospitality, retail, education, and even in private homes. VMT can be found across a wide range of products such as Flat Panel VMT, ViClouds VMT, VicWallpaper VMT, VicOffice, and Vixagon VMT.
