2021 GRAMMY Award Nominations Announced, Including Five Production Categories

The 2021 GRAMMY Awards will look different than what people are used to. But we’re as excited as ever for how they’ll sound.

The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards are packed with audio engineering talent.

Set to air Sunday, Jan. 31, on CBS, the 63rd GRAMMY Awards have nominations in 83 categories. Visit here to see the full list.

The audio community will be most interested to learn who among their peers were nominated in the five production related categories: Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical; Producer of the Year, Non-Classical; Best Remixed Recording; Best Immersive Audio Album; Best Engineered Album, Classical; Producer Of The Year, Classical.

While not officially an engineering category, also note Best Historical Album, as the mastering engineer is specifically nominated along with the compilation producer.

Of course, flagship awards such as Record of the Year and Album of the Year include engineering, mixing, and mastering credits. We’re privileged at SonicScoop to have interviewed many of this year’s nominees or seen them as featured presenters at MixCon (find them on our YouTube channel).

No matter the winner, we applaud the massive determination, effort, talent required by everyone who has received a nomination! Thank you for raising the bar on recorded music and sound.
