New Gear Alert: Introducing Waves V10, WL-Series Wireless Systems from BOSS, Sequential Prophet X by Dave Smith & More

Waves Audio announces the launch of V10.

Continuing their ongoing commitment to their user base, Waves introduces V10.

V10 is the new version of Waves plugins; users updating to V10 will benefit from future-proofing their sessions, ensure continued compatibility, enjoy plugin updates and full technical support, and receive new plugins when added to Waves premium bundles.

This year, Waves is celebrating not only 25 years of plugin innovation, but also 25 years of constant plugin updates and maintenance. Waves Audio is committed to ensuring that Waves plugins purchased 5, 10, 15 or 25 years ago remain compatible with all major DAWs and operating systems, and that plugins purchased today will continue to be compatible in the future.

BOSS announces the WL-Series wireless systems.

The WL-Series Wireless Systems from BOSS offer a streamlined, hassle-free wireless experience, ideally suited for rehearsals and small-scale live performance.

BOSS announces the WL-Series, a new line of high-quality wireless systems for guitar, bass, and other electronic instruments. Equipped with lightning-fast wireless technology newly developed by BOSS, the WL-Series delivers premium audio performance with ultra-low latency and rock-solid stability. Providing a plug-and-play experience with no aggravation or guesswork, the WL-Series makes it easy for players to bring wireless freedom to home, rehearsal, and small stage rigs.

Compact and affordable, the WL-20 Wireless System is as simple to use as a standard guitar cable. A small transmitter plugs into the instrument, and a matching receiver plugs into a pedal or amp. The receiver includes cable tone simulation, which reproduces the natural capacitive effect of a 10-foot/3-meter guitar cable.

The WL-20L Wireless System is identical to the WL-20, but eliminates the cable tone simulation. This makes it a good choice for use with an acoustic/electric guitar with an onboard preamp, active pickups, or a line-level instrument such as a keytar.

With its stompbox-size footprint, the WL-50 Wireless System is ideally suited for pedalboards. It features an integrated transmitter dock, plus two cable tone simulation options. The receiver is powered via a PSA-series adapter or AA batteries. With adapter power, the receiver’s DC output can distribute power to one or more pedals.

The WL-T Wireless Transmitter can be purchased as a spare for use with a WL-20, WL-20L, or WL-50 system, or the Katana-Air wireless guitar amp.

Pricing for the WL-Series is not yet available.

Dave Smith Instruments now shipping Sequential Prophet X samples-plus-synthesis hybrid synthesizer.

With samples and synthesis offered under the same hood, Dave Smith Instruments introduces the Sequential Prophet X hybrid synthesizer.

Sequential Prophet X is a new, bi-timbral, 8-voice-stereo (16-voice mono) synthesizer that combines samples and synthesis. At the heart of its sound is a newly-developed engine that powers two simultaneous 16-bit, 48kHz sample-based instruments, plus two high-resolution digital oscillators with waveshape modulation per voice—all processed through analog filters.

The 150GB sample library in the Prophet X includes numerous acoustic and electronic instruments, as well as an extensive collection of ambient and cinematic effects. Users can shape the samples through loop manipulation, sample stretching, and the synthesizer’s many sound-sculpting functions, which include 4 envelope generators, 4 LFOs, a deep modulation matrix, and other tools. The Prophet X also provides 50GB of internal storage for importing additional samples. Several sample libraries will be available from 8Dio at launch. Support for user-created sample content is planned for December, 2018.

A dual-effects engine provides multiple reverbs, two delays (standard and BBD), a chorus, flanger, phase shifter, rotating speaker, high-pass filter, and distortion. In stacked or split voice mode, you can apply two different effects to each layer. Effects parameters can be modulated through the mod matrix, as can the samples themselves. A polyphonic step sequencer allows up to 64 steps and up to 6 notes per step, per layer. The Prophet X features a premium-quality, five-octave, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch, an integrated power supply, USB support, and three OLED displays.

The Sequential Prophet X is available now for $3,999.

SONiVOX introduces the Solina Redux string ensemble emulation.

SONiVOX’s twist on the revered Arp Solina features the classic tonality one would expect, with the welcome addition of a modern synthesizer.

Designed for users who want to hot rod an Arp Solina String Ensemble, SONiVOX’s Solina Redux virtual instrument adds a virtual analog synthesizer to a classic reproduction of an Arp Solina String Ensemble, then adds two fully-programmable 8-step sequencers.

Solina Redux gives users access to the original Solina sounds, including a model of the Ensemble chorus effect, but includes a modern virtual analog synthesizer as a sidecar. Each synth includes a multi-mode filter, amplitude and filter envelopes, LFO modulations, and send effects. Solina Redux adds in two fully-programmable step sequencers; one for the Solina instrument and one for the analog synthesizer.

Each step sequencer gives users “per-step” control over the pitch, volume, filter cutoff, and panning of each note. Other controls include gate time, tempo sync, time division, swing, note order, and octave shift.

Solina Redux is available now for an introductory price of $129.99 through June 30th, (reg. $249.99).
