SonicScoop: Serving the Music and Audio Production Community Since 2009

SonicScoop was founded in 2009 by audio journalists Janice Brown [EQ, Pro Sound News, Mix] and David Weiss [Mix, Audio Media]. In its early days, the site focused on the dynamic New York City studio scene, but it quickly grew, expanding dramatically over the years to cover audio and music production and business all over the world.

In 2010, Janice and David brought on audio engineer and featured writer Justin Colletti, who quickly became one of the most popular authors on the site, and a driving force in accelerating SonicScoop’s growth and reach on the web.

By 2015, Justin had taken an increasingly active role, first as managing editor, and later as director of content and publishing, helping begin a new era of global reach, and adding high-quality podcast and video content into the mix. He was also instrumental in beginning the one-of-a-kind MixCon series of events, now an annual convention attended by thousands in person and seen by hundreds of thousands every year online.

Today, articles on SonicScoop.com are read up to 200,000 times each month, and its larger content network—which includes TheProAudioFiles.com and The Deli Magazine—is read up to 750,000 times every month. (And that’s not counting the reach of videos, podcasts and events!)

Have a look around the website and enjoy. If you’d like to contribute to the site, or talk about marketing opportunities for your pro audio brand, reach out to justin[at]sonicscoop.
