Art of Audio Launches Training Program Series in LA, with Mick Guzauski Dec. 13-16

An audio education upstart has arrived in the form of Art of Audio, offering a uniquely comprehensive series of training programs on the music production process – from start to finish, covering the recording to the mix and straight to the master in one cohesive swoop.

Art of Audio has arrived, with its inaugural program featuring Mick Guzauski, Maxine Ashley, and Peter Doell.

The first programs are slated to debut in Los Angeles and New York, with a sharp focus on providing active studio learning experiences. AoA students will work directly with producers, engineers and musicians, receiving detailed, interactive instruction by legendary audio professionals as they go. According to Art of Audio, their objective is to expand the legacy of groundbreaking audio industry personnel, while promoting the significance of recording in a traditional studio environment.

Each program is a four-day set of sessions from Thursday through Sunday. No less than Mick Guzauski (Daft Punk, N.E.R.D, Jamiroquai), kicks off the series on December 13-16 as he records and mixes artist Maxine Ashley at the famed EastWest Studios, followed by mastering instructor Peter Doell of Aftermaster Audio Labs.

Program 2 and 3 have also been announced for January (full details below), featuring such audio luminaries as composer/producer Richard Gibbs at Malibu’s revered Woodshed Recording, and mastering engineer Eric Boulanger of The Bakery; later in the month will be Ross Hogarth at Sunset Sound, and Stephen Marsh of Marsh Mastering. Each program plays out with the following signal path:

Thursday and Friday sessions offer recording and producing techniques, featuring artists performing their own material in the studio.

Saturday sessions focus on mixing, based on the recording from the previous two days.

Sunday delivers mastering instruction for the same recording.

Studio participation is limited to fifteen or fewer students per session, with an additional fifteen VIP Live Streaming students who may participate in Q&A. A Standard Live Streaming session option is also available.

Art of Audio instructors are intended to represent the highest caliber of recording professionals, presenting their deep knowledge in studios that reflect a similar level of excellence. The AoA programs are geared for students with a fundamental knowledge of professional recording.

There is also a measure of musical good intertwined into each set of sessions, with a portion of AoA program fees being donated directly to the cause of choice for each artist.
