Thermionic Culture Gets Grizzly Bear Plug

We don’t usually run this kind of product-endorsement news, but thought it was worth noting Grizzly Bear bassist and producer/engineer Chris Taylor showing love for his Thermionic Culture gear.

Taylor recently purchased the Thermionic Culture Rooster – a valve-based design mic/line & DI pre-amp with EQ and a distortion section – and the Culture Vulture stereo valve distortion box for Grizzly Bear’s recording studio and for use on his current recording projects.

“Both the Culture Vulture and the Rooster are totally awesome,” Taylor acclaims. “Nothing does just what the Vulture does. So unique and versatile. I just used them all over the place on my last record. Easily one of my favorite pieces of gear in my rig!”

A Brooklyn-based folk-rock band, Grizzly Bear has been readily referenced for its lush psychedelic sound by number of bands we’ve interviewed as they’re embarking on new studio albums.

Taylor reportedly has a converted church studio in Brooklyn where he’s at least in-part produced and/or engineered albums for The Morning Benders, Acrylics, Nat Baldwin, and Twin Shadow among others. The band has announced they’ve begun recording the follow-up to Veckatimest in Texas.

Taylor also runs the label, Terrible Records, with partner Ethan Silverman, of the band Beige.
