Purple Audio Announces MFtwenty5 – Rack Mount Discrete Summing Mixer for 500 Series

Here comes a chemistry set for your 500 modules.

Purple Audio, the specialty manufacturer born in Andrew Roberts’ NYU dorm room circa 1997, recently announced the MFtwenty5, a 1RU Dual input 10×2 mixer designed to make mixers and sidecars out of 500 modules.

The MFtwenty5 brings 500 modules together in an exciting new way.

The MFtwenty5 brings 500 modules together in an intuitive new way.

When it begins shipping in January 2014, the MFtwenty5 will provide audio mavens with 10 mono or stereo inputs, but that’s just the bottom line of a very flexible design.  Operational attributes include:

— When channel is in stereo the panner becomes a balance control
— Stereo channels set up to make a 20×2 stem mixer
— Uses 50 discrete opamps, with a transformer out stereo mix
— Safe or destructive stereo solo
— When optional faders are connected the top potentiometer becomes a mono aux send

The result is a complete and intuitive record/mix system that opens up myriad new possibilities for the 500 racks and modules already in your collection (and those to come!).

The 1RU mixer is $2500, optional meter unit is $750, optional mono fader unit is $1000, and its optional stereo fader unit lists for $2000. For deeper signal flow explanations and more, be sure to visit the MFtwenty5 Web page.
