Video Tutorial: Editing Trills in Melodyne with Shortcuts for Speed and Efficiency

Modern production and pop music in particular often involves a lot of editing. I’m a big fan of spending more time on tracking and less time on edits – and only when needed.

When edits are needed I like to get them done as efficiently and quickly as possible while still getting the same result or better: I prefer to spend more time on Mixing and Production and less time on clicking things on a computer and editing them to the desired outcome.

Melodyne is a super-powerful tool that I like for tuning vocals by hand and note by note. One thing I often come across is that when there are Trill notes. I like to separate each trill and go in and do a bit of micro editing — chopping one long note and making smaller notes for a much tighter tuning, and more control over a line or word.
