New Gear Alert: Telefunken Ships TDA-Series DI’s, Saturation Galore & More
Back in September, we covered the unveiling of Telefunken’s two new direct boxes before they were officially available for purchase. The TDA-1 (mono) and the TDA-2 (dual) are now shipping.
Utilizing an OEP/Carnhill transformer made in the UK, the Telefunken TDA-Series DI’s provide the vibe and character to best complement any instrument’s natural tone and feel. The PCBs are all 100% hand-assembled exclusively with through-hole components, and all circuit traces are gold-plated for maximum conductivity over the life of the product. High input impedance prevents the loading down of passive pickups. The frequency response of the circuit is ± 2dB from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, with extremely low distortion and self-noise figures.
The TDA-1 and TDA-2 are available for $199.00 and $299.00, respectively.
Antelope Audio furthers their collaboration with BAE Audio, announcing six new hardware-based EQ’s.
These hardware-based FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) FX models are designed to work in conjunction with the Orion Studio, Zen Tour, Goliath, and Orion 32+ interfaces, providing users with near-zero latency performance. In addition to the BAE 1023 and 1084, the new update will include recreations of early Austrian consoles of the 70s and 80s in the VEQ-STU 089, VEQ-STU 169, and VEQ-STU 900, as well as a beloved classic 4-band equalizer in the VEQ HA32C. These new additions will bring a total of 20 vintage equalizers to the Antelope Audio ecosystem.
Antelope’s growing library comes free with their new generation of audio interfaces.
Two new saturation plug-ins hit the market: The Blue Cat Audio Destructor 1.1, and The Audified U78 Saturator.
Blue Cat’s Destructor is a powerful distortion and amp modeling plug-in, capable of delivering tones that range from smooth compression to harsh digital destruction. Inspired by existing gear (guitar & bass amps or cabinets, compressors, pedals, tape machines…) or created in-house by Blue Cat, Destructor is an extremely versatile tool. All parameters of existing presets are fully editable, giving users access to an unlimited number of distortion simulations.
For the U78 Saturator, Audified has taken the circuitry of their U73b Compressor plug-in and altered it in several ways, producing a new and unique brand of saturation. They’ve removed the U73b’s compression function for the U78 Saturator, and added high-pass and low-pass filters, along with gain control and tone knobs, making for a unique and musical tube sound. The plug-in also features a Mix knob for in-line parallel compression, with built in delay on the dry signal to compensate for signal path latency and phasing issues.
Destructor 1.1 is currently on sale for $89 (reg $99), and the U78 Saturator is priced at $129.00.
