Universal Audio now shipping the Arrow desktop audio interface.
The Arrow is a Thunderbolt 3 audio interface for Mac and Windows. Featuring two Unison mic preamps, real-time UAD plugin processing, and class-leading Universal Audio conversion, this portable, compact, and lightweight 2×4 bus-powered audio interface provides a generous collection of UAD plugins to record album-quality vocals, guitars, and more, at near-zero latency.
Derived from Universal Audio’s Apollo interfaces, Arrow features an on-board UAD-2 SOLO Core processor, letting musicians monitor and record through the full library of UAD powered plugins. Arrow’s Unison mic preamp technology gives musicians the tone, touch, and feel of the world’s most sought-after tube and transformer-based mic preamps and guitar amplifiers.

Black Lion Audio introduces the “Seventeen” compressor.
Designed in conjunction with hitmaker Tobias Lindell, and featuring a redesigned and improved IC based front end, the Seventeen shows incredible detail and nuance normally not possible with this style compressor. The new front end circuit is coupled with a custom designed, made in Chicago output transformer, designed to give this unit a huge bottom end that balances out the open top end very nicely. Also included is Black Lion Audio’s proprietary Black Lion style power decoupling for an incredibly low noise floor. The Seventeen also uses high grade nichicon signal capacitors, widely considered some of the highest quality caps available.
In addition, the Seventeen features a frequency-adjustable sidechain, separate selectable high and low pass filters, a wet/dry mix knob, and a stereo link function for linking together two units.
The Seventeen will be available end of Q1/early Q2, 2018 for $649.
PreSonus expands Studio Series USB interface line with Studio 1810 and Studio 1824.
Following up on the Studio 26 and Studio 68 recording solutions, PreSonus announces the Studio 1810 and Studio 1824 USB 2.0 audio/MIDI interfaces. The new interfaces record at up to 24-bit, 192 kHz resolution and feature PreSonus’ XMAX Class A microphone preamps, audiophile-grade digital converters, ultra-low-jitter clocking, and MIDI I/O. All analog inputs and the main L/R outputs have eight-LED, ladder-style level meters.
Both interfaces’ outputs offer flexible routing with zero-latency DSP-based monitor mixing and control-room integration with included PreSonus Studio One Artist for Mac and Windows, and free PreSonus UC Surface for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Android. You also get the Studio Magic plugin Suite for Mac and Windows, which provides seven popular plugins in VST, AU, and AAX formats.
The Studio 1810 interface records up to 18 simultaneous inputs, including 2 combo mic/instrument/line inputs and 2 combo mic/line inputs, 8 channels of ADAT Optical input (4 channels at 96 kHz), and stereo S/PDIF inputs. There are eight outputs, including left and right, ¼” TRS balanced main outputs with dedicated level control and mute, four ¼” TRS balanced line outputs, and stereo S/PDIF outputs.
The Studio 1824 interface records up to 18 simultaneous inputs (8×8 at 192 kHz), including 2 mic/instrument/line inputs and 6 mic/line inputs, plus 8 channels of ADAT Optical input (4 channels at 96 kHz) and stereo S/PDIF. The 18 outputs include 8 ¼” TRS balanced line outputs, stereo main outputs (which duplicate line outs 1/2) with dedicated mute and mono buttons, 8 channels of ADAT Optical output (4 channels at 96 kHz), and stereo S/PDIF.
Both interfaces feature two stereo headphone outputs with independent mix streams.
The Studio 1810 and Studio 1824 are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2018, with anticipated street prices of $399.95 and $499.95, respectively.
Augspurger announces the SXE-3D 3-way DSP amplifier.
The SXE-3D delivers up to 2500W RMS (@ 4 ohms) to the subwoofer band, ensuring nearly limitless dynamics while supporting the low/mid band with 800W. The highly sensitive rock maple hand-built HF horns sport a 400W RMS rating.
With 120dB of dynamic range, ultra-low IM distortion (0.0008%) and a THD+N of 0.003%, the SXE-3D amp is an ideal solution for Augspurger’s Classic 215H-Sub18/218 flush-mounted systems, as well as any other large main monitoring systems.
Musical and powerful on-board DSP allows for real-time configuration and monitoring with control over a wide range of system parameters, including 10 parametric filters on each input and output, plus crossover, delays, phase, and more.
Pricing for the SXE-3D is not yet available.
The MOM Monitor Operating Module by DAD (Digital Audio Denmark) is now shipping worldwide.
The MOM unit was born for taking hands-on control of the monitoring side of any DAD AX32 or DX32R unit with the optional Pro | Mon | 3 monitor control license. With this new, third incarnation of Pro | Mon, DAD takes monitor control as an integrated part of its AX32 and DX32R units to a whole new level. And via the new desktop MOM Unit that offers layered control functionality, as well as easy operation directly from the work space, the control now gets tactile. The new Monitor Operating Module is also compatible with Avid’s MTRX units.
Multiple monitors and cue outputs in various channel formats can be configured and controlled from one or more hardware MOM’s. MOM features individual cue mix functionality and dedicated monitor mixing, and the adjustable parameters include level, pan, cut, mute and even downmix from, for example, a 7.1 multichannel format. All settings and configuration can be saved and recalled, allowing monitor configurations to be changed quickly and easily.
The Monitor Operating Module by DAD is available now for €995.
HY-Plugins and BPB (Bedroom Producers Blog) release free HY-TP2 tremolo plugin.
HY-TP2 is an updated version of the HY-TP tremolo effect by HY-Plugins. The new version comes with an improved user interface and a modified feature set. HY-TP2 includes two additional LFO shapes while removing the envelope follower and soft clipper functionalities found in its predecessor. The LFO module now also features a phase shift knob for precise timing adjustments.
The Mod Wave section includes the LFO waveform selection panel (sine wave, triangle, ramp up, ramp down, log up, log down, square, and random), a phase adjustment knob, and a smoothing knob which smooths out the shape of the selected waveform. The Tremolo/Panner section features modulation rate, modulation depth, and modulation width knobs. The width knob affects the plugin’s behavior as a tremolo or a stereo auto-pan effect. The filter section features a pair of filters (low shelf and high shelf). Finally, the Output section features the output volume dial.
