New Gear Alert: Smart Active Monitors by Genelec, PreSonus Updates Studio Live Series III, Celestion EVH IRs & More
Genelec unveils two high-SPL Smart Active Monitors.
Genelec’s two-way S360A and 7382A subwoofer are ideal for any professional application that demands high acoustic power or listening at a distance—from large immersive setups in post-production studios or film mixing stages to play-live monitoring in music production, EDM playback or premium home theaters.
Housed in a compact enclosure featuring high-quality Finnish woodwork and extremely low and controlled diffraction, the S360A also features a further enhanced 10-inch high-efficiency and minimal distortion woofer based on Genelec’s Master Series, and a completely integrated extended directivity control waveguide DCW™, supporting its 1.7-inch titanium diaphragm compression tweeter. The result combines the neutrality for which Genelec is known, with a short-term SPL capability of 118dB (with peaks even higher), and a long-throw capability that can provide reference-quality accuracy, even at listening distances of over 33 feet.
The ideal companion for both the S360A and Genelec’s other large-format monitors is the 7382A Smart Active Subwoofer—Genelec’s most powerful subwoofer to date. Delivering precise, powerful low frequency extension down to 15Hz, the 7382A houses three custom-designed 15-inch long-throw woofers. Each benefits from the vibration-free environment of a heavily-braced fiberboard enclosure, with laminar flow bass reflex porting extending along the entire rear wall to ensure low distortion and compression-free performance, even when the 7382A delivers outputs in excess of 130dB SPL.
The S360A is priced at $4,595; the 7382A is priced at $11,995.

Celestion debuts the G12 EVH Impulse Responses.
The new G12 EVH Impulse Responses are the latest addition to Celestion’s acclaimed line of IRs, the definitive digital representations of the company’s classic guitar speaker tones. The G12 EVH was created for, and bears the initials of Eddie Van Halen.
Eddie Van Halen has been an avid user of Celestion Greenbacks from the outset of his career. So, when it came time to select speakers for his 5150-III signature 4×12, Van Halen chose the 20-watt Heritage Series G12M as the most faithful and familiar reproduction of his Greenback tone. And with the inclusion of a custom black rear can with the red, white and black stripes, the Celestion G12 EVH guitar speaker was born.
The G12 EVH IR Collection is priced at $29.99. The G12 EVH IRs, as well as the rest of the comprehensive family of Celestion IRs, are available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.
Roland announces the SRX Keyboards Software Synthesizer for Roland Cloud.
The SRX Keyboards Software Synthesizer is a virtual recreation of an early-2000s SRX expansion board that was originally only available for compatible Roland hardware synths. This SRX expansion compiled the very best Roland keyboard sounds into a single expansion.
SRX Keyboards puts all this into a powerful plugin using Roland’s acclaimed DCB (Digital Circuit Behavior) technology to reproduce every nuance and detail of the original hardware. DCB uses the original sample ROM and accurately reproduces the original waveforms, along with any behavior or artifacts that resulted from the digital components and circuitry used in the hardware unit.
With over 1,700 original waveforms, 86 effects, and 393 preset tones, SRX Keyboards gives artists and producers plenty of room to craft their sounds using its deep, high-resolution editing interface. The collection covers a vast range of classic keyboard sounds, from acoustic and electric pianos to synth pads, string machines, and much more.
As with all Roland Cloud software synthesizers, SRX Keyboards is part of the Roland Cloud core membership that can be tried out risk-free for 30 days by simply registering for a Roland Cloud account.
