Premier Recording Studios Signs New 10-Year Lease to Remain at 723 7th Avenue
A prolific base for New York City recording has renewed its commitment to the city, with Premier Recording Studios recently signing a new 10-year lease to remain at 723 7th Avenue in Times Square through at least 2028.
Studio A at Premier Recording Studios has an evolved footprint, with the switch to an SSL AWS-924 Delta.
With the new lease in hand, Sandy Schneiderman owner of Premier Recording Studios, studio manager Glenn Swan, and chief tech Ignacio Lecumberri executed a number of upgrades to the facilities, which are spread across floors six and eight at 723 7th Avenue. Most notable is the switch in Studio A from the previous SSL 9000 J console to the more reliable and compact SSL AWS-924 Delta, residing in an Argosy desk.
All of Premier’s studios — A, B, E and F — have been equipped with Pro Tools 2018, including upgrade purchases of all contemporary plugins to their latest version. Meanwhile, on the conversion front, all Avid 192 and Pro Tools HD3 TDM Systems, have been upgraded with the addition of Apogee Symphony MkII I/O multi-channel audio interfaces. All Mac towers have also been switched over to newer cylindrical Mac Pros, featuring 2.7Ghz 12-Core processors with 128GB RAM.
On the monitors front, the Augspurger systems in both Studios A and B now are equipped with the Linea Research ASC48 crossovers. Room tuning was performed by Dave Kotch of Criterion Acoustics.
According to Schneiderman, the renewed lease and upgrades are aligned with an increase in business across all fronts for Premier. In addition to consistently strong bookings for traditional major label music production, the studio has seen significantly increased activity in both voiceover (VO) production and podcasting for clients including Tidal Music’s “Rap Radar,” the Thugged Out Entertainment label, and the “Questlove Supreme” weekly podcast by Roots drummer Questlove.
