New Gear Alert: Dynaudio Expands Core Series, Compact JUNO from Roland, Chandler Curve Bender Native via Softube & More
Dynaudio expands the Core range with Core 47 and Core Sub.
Dynaudio’s Core series grows to twice its size with a new, compact three-way monitor and a powerful subwoofer designed to extend the low-end perfectly for Core 7, 47 and 59.
Core 47 is a compact three-way monitor with a 7″ woofer, a dedicated 4″ midrange driver, and the new 28mm Esotar Pro tweeter. Core Sub is a powered subwoofer with four 9″ long-throw woofers and 2x 500W of power. Both units have digital inputs (AES3) and support up to 24-bit/192 kHz signals, and the internal DSP operates at the same high level when using the analog inputs.
The series is also designed for extremely flexible positioning. Depending on the studio environment, monitors might need to be placed sideways or upside down, which might mean less-than-perfect contact with the surface area. Core solves this issue with four indentations on each side and a set of special pads to fit them. Dynaudio has also designed a bracket for Core 47 for wall or ceiling installation. With the appropriate adapter, it can also double as a desk stand.
Core 47 and Core Sub will be available in Q3 2019; Core 47 is priced at $2,500, Core Sub is priced at $4,000, and the Core 47 bracket is priced at $200.
Roland announces the JU-06A synthesizer.
The JU-06A Synthesizer is a compact instrument that combines the best of vintage sounds and function from Roland’s legendary JUNO 6, 60, and 106. You can seamlessly access the high-pass filter of the 106 and the envelope-controllable pulse-width-modulation of the 60 directly from the JU-06A’s front panel. The JU-06A is complete with the iconic, swirling chorus, and builds upon its Roland Boutique JU-06 predecessor with an improved sequencer, interface, trigger in, arpeggiator, and more.
The JU-06A incorporates both USB audio/MIDI and full-sized MIDI jacks, giving you the ability to play and synchronize with nearly any other piece of gear in your setup. The 1/8” jack and USB connection lends to a clean setup with no clutter, while the JU-06A’s compact size fits into multiple music setups and can easily connect to a master keyboard, DAW, K-25m Keyboard Unit, and DK-01 Boutique Dock.
The JU-06A will be available in the U.S. in September 2019, priced at $399.99.
Softube releases the Chandler Limited Curve Bender in native format.
With tremendous pedigree, controlled power, and exceptional sound quality, the Curve Bender reigns supreme over the domain of tone-shaping in analog mastering.
In software form—thanks to component-level modeling of the original germanium and inductor circuits—the Curve Bender plugin not only allows you the luxury of using this classic processor in multiple places in the same mix, but also adds functionality to the original hardware, with Mid/Side processing and channel linking.
Softube has emulated this storied processor with painstaking and exceptional sound quality. The Curve Bender has more bands (four, compared to the original console’s two), more fixed filter points (fifty-one, up from just nine), more Q and gain options, and added low- and high-pass filters, making the unit a mastering powerhouse without sacrificing the exquisite analog sound which made it a leader.
The Softube Chandler Limited Curve Bender is priced at $199; for more information, click here.
