A Tribute To Pinkerton, Part 5 – Xylos (Video)

You may have seen the name Xylos swirling around in the blogosphere of Brooklyn indie music these last few years. The five-piece synth-pop band has been playing the circuit since 2008, cultivating their own brand of dancey-electro indie rock that’s much easier-on-the-ears than a lot of the noisier synth bands of the day.

Though you’ll certainly hear 80s and 90s influences and distinct pop melodies in Xylos’ music, the sound is not one you’d associate with Weezer. But their cover of “A Good Life” for Engine Room’s A Tribute To Pinkerton is one of the standouts on the album for how much of themselves they brought to it.

We sat in on their recording session at Engine Room Audio, and spoke with the band’s guitarist Eric Zeiler and singer Monika Heidemann about their approach on this track, and their recording habits in general.
