We just got back from AES and are ready to share some of the most interesting new gear releases with you!
This year’s show was compact, but not without some intriguing innovations. Gaze on for a few of our favorites.
Microphones
Just announced, Antelope Audio adds two new entries to its line of modeling microphones—a smaller, single capsule model at left, and a stereo model with 4 outputs, pictured at right.
Perhaps one of the most unusual microphone innovation displayed at the show, Zylia’s mic and software package offers “one-mic multitrack recording”, along with its more general 3D audio and Ambisonics capabilities.
Zoom also showed off its new 3D audio mic.
Royer unveiled its latest—a broadcast style ribbon microphone.
Not to be outdone, the retro-styled, Russian-made, high performance Soyuz line also announced a new broadcast style mic.

Continuing with the theme of mics tailored for spoken word, Apogee released a new mic aimed at the podcast market, complete with a built-in compressor.
Audio-Technica, which has been taking the streaming market by storm, just released its own line of low-cost podcasting kits in the popular 20 series..
Also for the very first time, AT began offering deals on drum recording kits as well. About time!
Earthworks showed off their latest drum mic pack as well.
It features a gooseneck tom and drum microphone that has quickly become the company’s fastest selling product—ever.

Lewitt Audio, of Austria, debuted its newest affordable model, pictured at center, which features 360 degrees of pattern selection, and even a pattern select randomizer for the adventurous.

Sanken debuted a titanium capsule small diaphragm condenser capable of withstanding tremendous SPLs, making it suitable for close mic’ing horns and very small jet planes.

Kali Audio shows off its new low-cost, high-performance speakers.

Apogee releases its first ever plugin effects. A direct competitor to UAD’s “Unisom” technology, these effects run on DSP or natively and are designed to improve workflow when tracking with effects.
Eventide released plugin versions of its classic Stereo Flanger and Stereo Phaser to go along with its new Stereo Room plugin.
iZotope shows off its latest, including the newly-unveiled RX7.
