AlexB Announces Modern Flagship Dynamics Compressor Library

Modeled after classic, physical hardware, AlexB has announced the release of his Modern Flagship Dynamics sampled library exclusively for the Nebula VST environment.

If we were betting folks, we’d say that the particular dynamics sampled are from the famed AMS Neve 88RS console — which would give these dynamics a dynamite pedigree. Check the product page, and see if you agree.

The Nebula VST plug-in is a virtual housing for ‘libraries’ that are sampled in such a way that providers can produce high quality and accurate emulations straight from the original gear. AlexB takes Modern Flagship Dynamics a step further by providing further development tweaks for flexibility and sound quality.

Nebula3 houses sampled libraries like MFD including eq and other hardware.

The Modern Flagship Dynamics library from AlexB is available now for an intro price of about $33 (24 EUR), $41 MSRP (30 EUR). Previous customers can pick it up for $27 (20 EUR). Here are more details from AlexB:

The Flagship Dynamics

The Modern Flagship Dynamics has set new standards as the ultimate analogue processor and has become the signature of excellence for the world’s premier engineers, producers and studios. This compressor is very usable and controls most situations effortlessly and musically, with a smooth or hard knee, a sweet top-end and powerful lows, with less aggression than a classic RMS compressor.

Modern Flagship Dynamics manages to sound clean but with character without being weak and harsh. There is little apparent colouration, just a maturity of tone.

With its 100kHz bandwidth the Modern Flagship Dynamics has been engineered to deliver recordings at the best conceivable quality onto any format at any sample rate, maintaining all the energy, atmosphere and life of the original performance as perfectly as possible.

The programs:

Carefully sampled @ 44.1kHz and 96kHz, without introduction of noise or aliasing, in a professional recording studio with custom converters built specifically for NAT3. High end cables, with particular care to the connections, levels and impedance matching were used to translate the sonic qualities of this priceless devices into the Nebula software technology. Every volume change, gain change, frequency change is tested and accurately programmed without destructive digital processing for optimized sound and then compared to the original device. The result is a virtually indistinguishable digital replication of this landmark device.

The programs don’t sound processed, harsh or digital as most plugins do, but instead sound like a natural extension of the original audio, gluing your tracks in the mix with an analog vibe.
