AMP Awards Recap & The Best Ad Music of the Year
NYC-based Duotone Audio Group were the big winners at last night’s AMP Awards for Music and Sound, taking home “Best In Show” for their work on “The Scarecrow” for Chipotle.
Duotone – run by composers Jack Livesey and Peter Nashel – handled music supervision on the project, which of course features Fiona Apple’s haunting rendition of Willy Wonka‘s “Pure Imagination”. The short was created by the creative agency CAA Marketing and produced by Moonbot Studios.
“The Scarecrow” also won the AMP Award for duotone in the category of “Best Use of Music / Sound for Web or Interactive Branding.”
These were among a dozen more AMP Awards handed out at the sold-out gala held at City Winery in New York last night.
The Portland, OR-based music studio, Walker, also took home two awards last night – in the Outstanding Adaptation category for “The Boxtrolls Trailer # 2,” produced for LAIKA, and in Most Effective Use of Music in a Campaign for “Baby Face,” produced for Old Spice Body Spray (which included the “Momsong” spot below).
Other winners last night included: JSM Music, Finger Music & Sound, Nylon Studios, BBDO New York, COPILOT Strategic Music + Sound, Cutters Studios, Q Department, Butter Music and Sound and tonefarmer. (Check out the full list of 2014 AMP Awards for Music and Sound winners appears below.)
Aside from the awards ceremony, the evening gathered creatives, producers and executives from all the major music houses in NYC, along with creative licensing agencies, music publishers, production and post professionals for an awesome mixer.
Composers, sound designers, music producers, broadcast producers, agency creatives, and more all coming together in the context of music made for some fun mingling and reconnecting.
Performances by American Authors and Sky Ferreira capped the night.
Additionally, Nike and Budweiser were inducted into the AMP Hall of Fame – recognized for Outstanding Achievement in the Use of Music to Define the Brand. So there were reps from those major brands there as well. Sponsors included Clear Channel Communications + iHeart Radio, Island Records and Grey Worldwide.
