AVID At NAMM: Space, Sibelius & Eleven Rack
With NAMM kicking off yesterday, Avid had a few announcements, though no earth-shattering new releases. Here’s what new from the Avid camp:
First, they announced the new Sibelius 7.5 music composition and notation software. The new features all seem to focus on accelerating workflow — these include “accelerated navigation”, more expressive playback via Espressivo 2.0, improved notation interpretation, enhanced collaboration and easier sharing, and Full Avid Scorch app integration, which optimizes for iPad.
Sibelius 7.5 will be available worldwide in February 2014. Pricing is $599.95 for the full version and $49.95 for the Sibelius 7 to 7.5 upgrade. Also, you may qualify for one of the following upgrades:
- Sibelius Legacy upgrade (v6 and earlier) — $149.95
- Sibelius competitive upgrade — $199.95
- Sibelius trade-up from Sibelius First — $399.95
Avid also announced that as of now over 850 plugins have been converted to the new AAX format for Pro Tools 11, including (as of yesterday) the Avid Space convolution reverb plugin, which was their final plugin to be launched for AAX.
Avid Space is now available in 64-bit AAX Native, DSP, and AudioSuite formats. For more information on Space, click here. Pricing is $499 USD, with a free upgrade to Space from TL-Space.
And finally, something totally free — for Eleven Rack users. The new Eleven Rack Editor gives owners of the Eleven Rack a “faster, more open workflow for creating and editing” on the guitar system.
This is a free application that makes Eleven Rack software control available for Pro Tools 11 and third-party digital audio workstation solutions. You can download it here. Users can download and play thousands of Eleven Rack rig presets of premium guitar sounds from online portals such as http://www.elevenrackpresets.com.
