Benefit Concert for School of Seven Bells’ Benjamin Curtis – May 9th at Glasslands
One of Brooklyn’s most groundbreaking bands, School of Seven Bells, has been sidelined since early February, when co-founder Benjamin Curtis was diagnosed with cancer.
As dedicated an audio engineer and producer as he is a guitarist, synthesis, songwriter, and performer, Curtis is facing up strongly to his tough – but winnable — battle with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. It is a treatable form of cancer, but the cure comes at an enormous cost.
You can help: Just join Curtis’ friends and family at Glasslands in Brooklyn on May 9, for a benefit concert that will feature the artists Exitmusic, Rewards, CREEP, Albert Hammond Jr., Blood Orange and Certain Creature. As noted on Jambands.com, Hammond, Blood Orange and Certain Creature will be spinning DJ sets, and the rest of the evening’s performers will play full-band sets.
Tickets are currently on sale for $12. The band has also established a Website to help with Curtis’ escalating medical expenses.
You can read more about Curtis’ intelligent approach to music production in the SonicScoop interviews for 2012’s Ghostory and the 2010 album Disconnect from Desire.
Let’s band together for one of NYC’s true musical adventurers: We’ll see you at Glasslands on May 9th!
