Callers Signs To Partisan, Reviver Coming Oct. 9
The Brooklyn by-way-of-New Orleans art-pop band Callers have signed to Partisan Records (Deer Tick, Mountain Man). Partisan will release the band’s new album, Reviver, on October 9.
Callers made Reviver with producer/engineers Keith Souza and Seth Manchester of the Providence, RI recording studio Machines with Magnets (Battles, Fang Island, Psychic Paramount). Souza and Manchester also mixed the record.
Heba Kadry (The Mars Volta, Lotus Plaza, Liturgy) mastered Reviver at The Lodge in NYC.
Fusing elements of so many musical styles – jazz/folk/rock/psych/pop/etc. – Callers’ sound is hard to pin down. The first single, “Howard 2 Hands”, released last week via Rolling Stone, is characterized by inventive rhythms and arrangements, jazz/psych guitar textures and soaring vocals. “The beat came from a two handed rhythm pattern written while waiting for the A train at Howard station near JFK airport,” Callers guitarist/bassist Ryan Seaton told Rolling Stone. “It’s a song about dancing in all the right and wrong places.”
The band calls Reviver their most fully realized vision to date – an accomplishment that is no doubt a testament to their experience in the studio. Following production, producer/engineers Souza and Manchester joined the band.
Callers plays Union Pool in Williamsburg tonight. Click to follow them on Facebook.
