Dar Williams’ “Many Great Companions” Out Now, Livestream Session Friday, 10/15
NY-based folk treasure Dar Williams has a new album out this week — Many Great Companions — and it is a double-disc retrospective with a twist.
Joined by special guests including Sean and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Larkin and Gary Louris of the Jayhawks (who also produced the album), Williams re-recorded all-acoustic versions of 12 of her classic songs for Disc 1: Songs Revisited With Guitar and a Few Friends. Disc 2 is the bonus, career-spanning Best of Dar Williams album.
Stream “If I Wrote You,” one of the “Songs Revisited,” featuring Gary Louris here: “If I Wrote You”
Recorded and mixed at Red Wally Music in Beacon, NY, Many Great Companions is a must-have for fans as well as a perfect introduction to one of the great folk singer-storytellers (listen to classics like “Spring Street,” “The Christians and The Pagans,” “The Babysitter’s Here,” and “When I Was A Boy” for proof of this!)
Before seeing Dar live tomorrow (Friday, 10/15) night at City Winery, we’ll be watching her Livestream performance and real-time Q&A at 12:30pm EST at http://www.livestream.com/darwilliams. Tune in!
