Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra Celebrate “Honker” Release Today, 6/29, with Living Room Soiree
Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra, an eccentric NYC throwback if there ever was one, unleashed their new album Honker today.
Performed by Lipton and an inspired trio, Honker is packed with loungey/folk-jazz gems that grow on you but fast. NYC-area production credits abound as well.
Most of the album’s basic tracks were recorded at The Clubhouse, in Rhinebeck, NY. Basic tracks for “We Would Have Never Met,” “Hippie” and “Disappointment,” and all of the drums, guest vocals (as well as some bonus sax) were recorded at Godelstring in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and in the band’s Brooklyn homes.
Moving a little up the coast, Huck Bennert engineered, produced and mixed the album in Saico, ME. Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra co-produced, led by guitarist Eben Levy. Mark Donohue mastered at Soundmirror in Jamaica Plain, MA.
The band will celebrate the release with three shows: Tonight, June 29th, 7:00 PM at the Living Room, Wednesday June 30th at Union Hall, and Thursday, July 1st at Rockwood Music Hall.
Congrats to EL&HO!
