Event Alert: Masterclass with Danny Elfman – Hollywood in Vienna, 9/27

Master classes should take place under the tutelage of an undisputed master – composer Danny Elfman qualifies.

Get up close and personal with Danny Elfman in Vienna.

Presenting at the Film Music Symposium 2017 at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, will be the musical maestro who has collaborated with directors Tim Burton, Gus Van Sant, Sam Raimi, Paul Haggis, Ang Lee, Rob Marshall, Guillermo del Toro, Brian De Palma, and Peter Jackson. After his film scoring career launched with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, his portfolio has gone on to include Milk, Good Will Hunting, Big Fish, Men in Black, Edward Scissorhands, Wanted, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mission: Impossible, Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man (1 & 2), Batman, Chicago, Dick Tracy, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and more. Recent credits include The Girl on the Train, Fifty Shades of Grey and Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Danny Elfman will be honored with the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award at the 10th annual Hollywood in Vienna Gala on Friday, Sept 29^th at the Vienna Konzerthaus.

Taking place on the second day of “Hollywood in Vienna” happening at the FIMU Symposium, Elfman’s masterclass will see him discussing his career, providing young musicians and composers a view into his creative process. Throughout the event, many guest speakers from Austria and the United States will discuss current developments in the film industry, including topics in entertainment law and PR as well as the challenges of composing for Hollywood. Additionally, this year FIMU will focus on the topic “Video Game Music”.
