Event Choice: HEADSPACE — Brain Controlled Music, Dolby Labs NYC, Tues. Jan. 8
Science fiction turns into reality all the time these days – here’s your chance to experience some really exciting technology first- hand, before it reaches the mainstream.
The NYC-based collective of music professionals known as ManhatPro is hosting HEADSPACE – Brain Controlled Music this coming Tuesday, January 8th, at Dolby Laboratories Main Floor Screening Room 1350 Avenue of the Americas (enter on 55th Street).
This free event will serve as an encore performance of the presentation given by ManhatPro’s Richard Warp at the October, 2012 AES convention in San Francisco.
According to ManhatPro, the evening will showcase the latest developments at the intersection of neuroscience and new media, with a particular focus on music and include a live demonstration of a brain-controlled environment using the Emotiv EPOC EEG headset to control audio events with the Unity Game engine.
Your author was lucky enough to receive a personal demo of the Emotiv headset at this past AES. It’s a fascinating experience, and we believe it presents myriad implications for everything from composition to healing. Mr. Warp makes this extremely sophisticated technology engaging and approachable.
