Film Music Event: “On Demand” Live Scoring with Todd Kasow in NYC, Wed. April 17th

Ready to see how music-to-picture is written – live and in real-time?

Todd Kasow will turn film scoring into a live experience this Wednesday, April 17th.

The ManhatPro Film Music & Audio series has a daring – and FREE — event lined up at the Apple Store SoHo (103 Prince Street) for this Wednesday, April 17th, 7 PM, in conjunction with the Tribeca Film Festival’s arrival this week.

That’s when the in-demand music editor Todd Kasow (True Grit, Mildred Pierce, Julie and Julia, Burn After Reading, The Red Violin), will be creating music “on demand” for the audience as he composes to picture, demonstrating techniques using Digital Performer, Logic and Pro Tools. Kasow will also demo a “Sample Farm” using Vienna Orchestra’s ENSEMBLE software that evening.

Kasow has worked on films directed by the likes of Martin Scorsese, Robert Deniro, Joel and Ethan Coen, Michael Mann, Nora Ephron and Alan Pakula, plus an elite portfolio of film composers (see the full list here). He enjoys a two-decade working relationship with composer Carter Burwell, and is Music Editor for the upcoming Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis.

ManhatPro, the NYC-based media education, professional mentoring and networking community for music professionals, debuted the Film Music and Audio series in September, during Indie Film Week and featured Music and Audio pros including Oscar-winning film mixer Tom Fleischman (Goodfellas, Hugo, Malcolm X, The Aviator).

No RSVP is required for this first-come, first-served FREE event. The series is presented by ManhatPro and Making Film Music in NY.
