With the help of the Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG), Food Network revamped the HD broadcast production control rooms in its 110,000 sq-ft digital production facility, located in the Chelsea Market building, for 5.1 surround sound.

Bill Jarett, Food Network’s VP of Engineering, had worked with WSDG company co-prinicipal, John Storyk on the 5.1 upgrade of the network’s DAW studio in ’05 and returned to WSDG to ready the new HD Audio, Flex and Production Control Rooms for surround.

Under the supervision of Storyk, project manager Joshua Morris, company co-principal Beth Walters, and interior design project manager Kathlyn Boland, WSDG added new wall treatments and ceiling panels to the mixing room that are designed to combat existing acoustic problems, as well as décor modifications. Judy Elliot-Brown, systems integrator of the project, was in charge of assessing infrastructure and room utilization and Chris Harmaty of NYC’s Technical Structures supervised construction.

Headquartered in Highland, NY, with offices in South America and Europe, WSDG is a global design, acoustics and technology consulting firm specializing in audio/video facilities. For more information on this project, visit: http://www.wsdg.com/portfolio.asp?id=FOOD
