Ladies and gentlemen, it is time again to present to you the best freeware plugins — some brand new, some classics — we have come across within the last few weeks and present them to our readers for their downloading pleasure. For free, there isn’t one plugin below that will fail to impress. Have at thee!

Softrave – Crash VSTi Virtual Drum Instrument

The first freeware offering is a virtual drum kit with hundreds of studio quality drum hits. Crash VSTi is available for Windows only. Here is what Softrave has to say about the free instrument:

Here we have a ringmodulator effect that offers plenty of flexibility for a freeware plugin. Ring-O is available as in VST format for Windows only. WOK says:

“RING-O is a ringmodulator effect plugin.

Modulation source can be the left and right side of a stereo signal modulating each other, or a stereo signal modulated by RING-O’s internal oscillator.

The internal oscillator has different wave forms, the pitch can be adjusted manually or by incoming MIDI notes.

RING-O also features a diode ring modulator style setting for less clean sounds and the ability to adjust the modulation mix.

Syncersoft – Bass Landscapes Harmonic Content Creator

Next we have a multipurpose freeware plugin that is suited for low frequency bass lines and instruments to help bring out the selected source of your mix. Bass Landscapes is available for Mac and PC. Here is what Syncersoft has to say about Bass Landscapes:

Ohm Force – Frohmage Resonant Filter

The Ohm Force Frohmage freeware plugin has been around for a while but is one quality filter plugin that everyone should pick up. Frohmage is available for Mac and PC. Ohm Force says:

PSP – PianoVerb Reverb Plugin

This transposable reverb plugin is a unique idea from the minds at PSP. It is available for download for Mac and PC in VST, RTAS or AU formats. PSP says:

“PSP PianoVerb reproduces special kind of reverberation originally provided by piano strings. It generates reverberation using twelve string operators with adjustable damping and decay time. Each of them is tuned to a particular note starting from A(55Hz) to a G#(103.8Hz). The PSP PianoVerb string system can be transposed in the range of +-24 semitones, tuned within a range of +-100 cents and be detuned as well. Transposing to lower octaves produces a bigger and less resonant sound similar to traditional reverbs, while in turn transposing to higher octaves produces a very bright harp-like effect.

TubeOhm – Anti-Transpirant Mono + Stepper

Here we have a VSTi that offers 8x oversampling. Although it is a heavy load on your CPU, 8x sounds the best. There are also two other options to lower the load on your which technically offers three different instruments. Anti-Transpirant is for PC only in VST format. TubeOhm says:

“TubeOhm ANTI TRANSPIRANT is a wonderful analogue sounding VSTi Instrument. For the first time we built an Instrument with 8 x oversampling. This means crystal clear high frequency modulations, high frequency PWM, FILTER FM and RING

MODULATION. 8 x oversampling needs a lot of CPU usage but it gives the best sound.
