Frenchkiss Label Group Signs Two New Labels
The New York City based Frenchkiss Label Group has expanded with the recent signing of two new independent record labels: Brooklyn-based PaperCup Music, and the new Rough Beast Records out of Springfield, MO.
Already home to indies such as White Iris, JAXART, Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records and ATP Recordings, the Frenchkiss Label Group provides distribution through its partnership with The Orchard and is focused on growing visibility for its hand-picked roster of independent labels (conceived in the spirit of communities like Dischord, Rough Trade, Touch & Go).
Both PaperCup and Rough Beast were founded in 2013.
PaperCup specializes in vinyl and digital releases for a roster that includes The Teen Age, Tennis System, Weekender and Raccoon Fighter. Rough Beast was founded by R.J. Jennings who was previously owner of Jeffery Drag Records (Bad Cop, Natural Child) in Nashville. As of now the label has one artist on the roster – the Springfield (MO) rock band, Ghost Dance.
Frenchkiss Label Group also recently signed Exploding in Sound Records and Mock Records.
