G-Sonique Releases Zener Limiter LM-2Z Plugin — Transparent Mixing Limiter
We’ve seen our share of digital limiters. So what does the LM-2Z from G-Sonique bring to the table? Zener diode emulation of course! As most of us may know, digital limiters can introduce harsh artifacts that just don’t sound good by the removal of unwanted peaks.
The cure, in this case, is focusing on what analog does right. Zener diodes create a more natural effect, increasing loudness without peak distortion.
The G-Sonique LM-2Z is available now for around $27 (19.90 Eur), or $16 (11.90 Eur) for the first 100 customers. The plug-in is compatible with PC only, VST/VSTi formats.
Here are full details on the LM-2Z, as told by G-Sonique:
LM-2Z is limiter based on design and sound of hardware analog limiters which are using Zener diodes as main component. Limiter is device that removes unwanted peaks/overloads of signal and makes sound louder.
Comparing to classic digital brickwall limiters, Emulation of analog zener limiter offers more transparent, liquid and airy sound and significantly less distortion and unwanted artifacts!
While analog limiters are not 100% precise (they can pass some peaks and cause clipping of output signal) we added algorithm that do not allow passing any db of signal over level set by output knob. So this limiter combines best features of analog and precise digital limiters in one.
LM-2Z is ideal as mixing Limiter on individual channels.
Feature Highlights
- Limiter amount knob (amount of overall limiting)
- Bass cut knob (some deepest subbases can cause distortion if limited, you can
- remove them with this knob)
- Time constant knob (set time-based reaction of limiter to peaks, in milliseconds)
- Output volume knob
