George Petit Mixes Michael Zsoldos, Tracks Robin Skye at MSR
One of NYC’s men in demand is George Walker Petit. The musician/producer/mixer/engineer reports a very busy fall so far including the following projects:
Vermont-based tenor sax master Michael Zsoldos selected Petit and his extremely stocked in-the-box system for mixing his first CD project, featuring Matt Wilson (drums), Miro Sprague (piano) and Martin Wind (bass).
The session was tracked at Systems Two in Brooklyn by Joe Marciano. According to Petit, three of the musicians set up in the same live space with only the bass in an iso to try to capture the organic nature of the project.
Petit also composed for the South African company EXTRACTEC, creating music and sound for a 10-minute presentation of their technology.
In addition, Petit cut tracks with vocalist Robin Skye at MSR South, then mixed on his personal studio system.
