Gorgeous Ladies of Comedy Podcast Debuts, Recorded at Sound Lounge
“Earthquaking ladies” + comedy + podcast? Nothing could be more righetous to the ears. This crafty combination converges in “GLOC Talk: Girl, Do You,” the new podcast from G.L.O.C. (Gorgeous Ladies of Comedy) that debuted this week on thegloc.net.
This week’s podcast is the first of a series bringing together prominent NYC-area female comedy pros, innovators and groundbreakers to discuss their work. First on the agenda: the hit web series “Broad City“, which was created by Upright Citizens Brigade alums Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, the role of feminism in comedy, and much more.
“GLOC Talk: Girl, Do You” is recorded, mixed and edited at NYC audio post-production house Sound Lounge. Fans can listen to each episode, which will be released at the rate of one per week, at TheGLOC.net.
Each podcast’s discussion is led by G.L.O.C. founder and editor Glennis McCarthy and NYC-based comedian Adira Amram. Guests this season will include author Julie Klausner, Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, writer and comedian Gaby Dunn, “30 Rock’s” Sue Galloway, Upright Citizen Brigade’s Shannon O’Neill, BUST Magazine founder Marcelle Karp, cabaret superstar Lady Rizo, comedian and talk show host Sara Benincasa, and comedy writer and performer Elna Baker.
Sound Lounge’s role in the podcast production reflects the facility’s continued involvement in New York comedy community in New York. Sound Lounge casting director Carrie Faverty’s longstanding friendship with G.L.O.C’s McCarthy is an essential connection that brought the podcast there.
Tune in to the podcast and see if you relate to G.L.O.C.’s mission, which is to create a community of support for women in comedy, and “help to empower the next generation of girls to use their voices to make people laugh and think.”
