Have the Instinct to DJ? Hercules Announces DJControl Instinct Mixing Console Controller
Hercules has introduced the DJControl Instinct, a new mixing console controller designed for anyone with the inclination and desire to start mixing. It will be available at the end of June 2012, with a suggested retail price of $129.99.
The form factor appears simple to use, and efficient: the DJControl Instinct is compact and lightweight, designed to allow users to get started instantly with their laptop, audio files and headphones. The unit is USB-powered, via an attached USB cable that can’t be misplaced.
According to Hercules, the DJControl Instinct is the only controller in its category to feature built-in audio outputs — two RCA outputs, and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack output — making it easy for users to play their mix and listen on an amplified PA system speaker, Hi-Fi system or multimedia speakers. Both output formats play simultaneously, meaning users can connect the RCA outputs to a PA system and the 1/8″ mini-jack to DJ booth speakers
On the handling tip, Hercules DJControl Instinct features bright orange and red backlighting, pitch control and two pressure-detecting jog wheels.
DJUCED for PC or Mac is the bundled software which helpfully displays the beats per minute, along with the tracks’ lengths, but most impressively indicates which songs match best for the next track to be played — making it a cinch to sync customize mixes with effects, loops, samples and hot cue points, and even by using the step sequencer.
Designed with mobility in mind, users can also save their audio files and share mixes with their friends.
