My Mix Angle: I try to really get inside the emotion of the track that you hear when first listening to the rough, and preserve that while taking it to the next level.
For Example:
At MixCon, I’m Focusing On The Hip Hop Mix Because: Hip hop needs to hit hard without losing the clarity or dynamics. It starts with dialing in the foundation of the subs to make sure they’re big but not compressed. It’s especially important to ensure every lyric is clear on top of the track.
Sneak Preview: I’ll be drilling into how to create width without losing impact, making your subs big, and parallel processing.
I Love Leading Audio Workshops Because… I’ve been lucky in my career to be around amazing mix engineers who were always open to answering questions I’ve had and sharing their knowledge. I still have a close group of engineer friends who are always bouncing ideas, questions, and gear talk off each other. It’s invaluable, even still for me, to be able to learn from those doing the same thing around you, so I believe in helping as much as I can.
