New Gear Alert: EHX Restocks MIG-50 Amps, Abyss Soft Synth by Tracktion, NIRO from REDIAcoustics & More
Electro-Harmonix announces the MIG-50 tube amp re-stock.
Electro-Harmonix has announced that their MIG-50 amps are back in stock, with all the international safety certifications required to ship them everywhere. The MIG-50 is a faithful reissue of the Sovtek MIG-50 with modern enhancements and first-rate build quality. Like the original Sovtek amp, the EHX MIG-50 has the rich tone and sweet harmonics reminiscent of a tweed Fender Bassman.
The MIG-50 features include: 2 channels, each with its own volume control (channel 1 is normal, channel 2 is bright/high gain); treble, middle, bass and presence controls; two Tung-Sol 5881 power tubes, one Mullard 12AX7 and two Tung-Sol 12AX7 preamp tubes; external bias adjustment controls, and the option for 4, 8, or 16 ohm speaker outputs.

Tracktion launches the Abyss soft synth.
Created by Peter V, a mathematician, AI, veteran and musician by heart, Abyss immediately sets itself apart by representing timbres as colours. This distinctive concept, combined with powerful, intuitive modulation makes it easier than ever to create nuanced, expressive sounds and textures, especially when utilising an MPE controller like the ROLI Seaboard.
Abyss’ tone color approach creates a virtual instrument that focuses on the “art” rather than numbers, providing an inspiring new way to create complex sounds. Abyss can tweak, mangle, and modulate sound to sonic oblivion, it can build endlessly evolving cinematic textures, or create detailed, nuanced MPE instruments. With more than two thousand tone colors, you can define the basic timbral dimension of your sound by placing your chosen tints or shades on a central tone gradient.
This powerful sound engine offers all the flexibility of a classical synth combined with rich textures and a natural rainbow of sounds. With it, musicians and producers can quickly and easily shape tone colors in new, unheard-of ways, enabling them to explore fresh new sonic possibilities.
Abyss is on sale now for $77.40.

Blue Cat Audio updates Axiom and Destructor.
The new Axiom brings a new multicore processing engine and many performance improvements to load even more effects and amp simulations at lower latencies. It also adds many new features to control the software via MIDI (incl. tap tempo). Axiom 1.6 now includes more than 70 built-in plug-ins, with a new MIDI controllable looper, and several new delay, distortion and compression pedals.
The new version of Destructor, which also acts as an amp and pedals modeler inside Axiom, introduces a brand new user interface mode to build your own distortion or compression pedals. All presets can now be assigned a custom range for the drive parameter, to fine tune the behavior of each effect and guarantee a perfect response, even when pushed to 11.
These updates are free for existing users, and demo versions are available for download here.
