Antelope Audio announces Discrete 8 and Discrete 4 mic preamp interfaces, along with accompanying modeling mics.
The Discrete series interfaces come with either 8 or 4 console grade 6-transistor discrete preamps, 121dB dynamic range conversion and rock solid clocking. They feature all of Antelope Audio’s premier real-time FPGA FX, including authentic models of iconic gear from BAE, Lang, Gyraf Audio and many more.
The Discrete series interfaces are designed to work with any microphone, but they really shine with Antelope’s new Edge and Verge mics, which were designed to match the units’ discrete preamp architecture.
Inside the Discrete 8 and Discrete 4 FPGA Accusonic 3D modeling engine, you can transform both Edge and Verge into vintage replicas, giving you complete control over proximity effect and off-axis response—you can even change polar patterns during or after recording. Choose from a collection of classic and expensive microphones and track the results as you monitor live, bringing out a musician’s best possible performance.
Discrete 8 is available with Antelope’s Basic FX collection for €1,295; with the Premium FX collection for €1,995; with 6 Verge mics,+ 1 Edge mic + Premium FX collection + Mic Emulations Bundle for €2,995.
Discrete 4 is available with Antelope’s Basic FX collection for €899; with the Premium FX collection for €1,399; with 1 Edge mic + Premium FX collection + Mic Emulations Bundle for €1,995.
Eventide & Newfangled Audio partner to release Elevate mastering plugin.
Elevate is a multi-band limiter, human-ear EQ and powerful audio maximizer that will increase the loudness of your mix while maintaining or improving its dynamic perception. It uses intelligent, adaptive technology that responds in real time to your music, creating not only the loudest, but the best sounding master.
Developed by Newfangled Audio, the adaptive limiter analyzes 26 frequency bands and alters the gain, speed and transients for each band in real time. The result is a transparent, natural sound, no matter how hard you push it.
The 26 critical filter bands modeled from the human ear are spaced to give maximum control over how the sound hits your eardrum. Draw curves, solo bands and manipulate the transient attack for each individual band to bring out particular instruments such as kick or snare drums.
Check out an introductory video of Elevate here.
Elevate is exclusively available through Eventide—bundled with Newfangled Audio’s EQuivocate EQ plugin—at an introductory promo price of $99 until October 31, 2017 (reg. $199). Owners of EQuivocate can upgrade to the Elevate mastering bundle at an introductory promo price of $79 until October 31, 2017 (reg. $99).
Focusrite announces the RedNet X2P 2×2 Dante™ audio interface.
The RedNet X2P, featuring two Red Evolution mic preamps, stereo line outs and a stereo headphone amplifier, allows quick I/O and monitoring expansion of Focusrite RedNet or other Dante audio-over-IP systems. Power, audio and remote control are supplied using a single Ethernet cable. A local input mixer allows “more me” monitoring control, while a control lockout ensures settings remain unchanged when used remotely.
The two digitally-controlled mic preamps provide plenty of gain along with stereo linking, individually selectable phantom power, a high-pass filter and phase reverse. Additionally, they include “Air” mode, emulating the sound of Focusrite’s classic transformer-based mic preamps.
The RedNet X2P provides high-performance audio conversion with over 118dB dynamic range. RedNet X2P features a crossfader to enable level control of the local inputs versus network inputs assigned to feed either the line outputs or the headphone outputs. The unit can be mounted directly to a mic stand, keeping it out of the way and within reach.
RedNet X2P is available now for $899.99.
Soundly releases V2 of popular cloud-based sound effects service and editing application.
Soundly is a unique, turnkey solution for adding sound to picture. Not only does it contain an online library of sound, but it also features a specialized application for editing and placing sounds. Only Soundly provides a centralized hub to search for sound effects not just in the cloud library, but also on local storage, shared network attached storage, and even through large online systems like Freesound.org.
In V2, every individual Soundly subscriber receives 10GB of collaboration space in the Soundly Cloud. Multi-user accounts get as much space as they need, enabling them to move their entire workflow to the cloud. Users can share personally created sound effects with colleagues and friends.
Also in V2, users can now work on the same shared database over a network. Editors can log on from different accounts and access sounds without indexing all sounds on different computers. If changes are made to the local database, like adding more sound effects, they will automatically appear in every user’s library folder. Unlike other systems, there’s no separate server required, and setup is extremely easy.
Check out an introductory video of Soundly V2 here.
Available immediately, Soundly is free to download and includes access to 300 sounds. The Premium SaaS version includes 10,000+ premium sound effects, full sound catalog indexing, access to the Soundly store for specialized in-app purchases, plus access to 100,000+ more sounds from Freesound.org to use within Soundly—all for $14.99 per month.
