New Gear Alert: iZotope’s RX 9, ATK Player by Audio Test Kitchen, Engine DJ 2.0 & More
RX 9 is the latest update to the industry-standard tool for audio repair and enhancement, and incorporated it into version 6 of the RX Post Production Suite. The update includes major improvements to some of the most popular RX modules used in audio post production.
Designed specifically for the demanding needs of post production professionals, RX 9 Advanced allows for full control over your audio with even further updates. The new version of Dialogue Isolate makes it easier than ever to extract clean dialogue from its environment, without artifacts, while the new Complex mode in Ambience Match seamlessly connects dialogue and ADR cuts with real background movement and textures—all with multichannel support up to Dolby Atmos 7.1.2.
In both the Standard and Advanced versions, the new Dynamic Mode in De-hum allows you to instantly remove any amount of hum and interference in one pass. View up to 30 undo steps in the new expandable History list, use the new Restore feature to roll back an audio selection to any previous step in your History list, or clean up unwanted sounds directly in Logic using the new Spectral Editor, built on the ARA plugin extension.
RX 9 is available now, with the Standard version priced at a special introductory promo price of $299 (reg. $399), Advanced priced at $799 (reg. $1,199), and the RX Post Production Suite 6 priced at $999 (reg. $1,999).
Audio Test Kitchen debuts the ATK Player.
The ATK Player can be easily integrated with any mobile or desktop website, similar to a chat window, without any website design changes. Like a “virtual showroom,” the Player enables you to efficiently learn the information that is important to you and compare hi-res audio examples.
Manufacturers in any product category—from software to audio interfaces to drums and guitars—can have high quality, cross-comparable sound samples produced by ATK as part of their Player subscription, as well as the ability to upload their own content in hi-res. For ATK’s 55 existing microphone manufacturer partners, 46 fully cross-comparable audio samples on sources ranging from vocals and guitars, to robot drums and a Yamaha Disklavier, will all be included with the Player subscription.

Engine DJ 2.0 is here.
Engine DJ 2.0 is comprised of 2 major updates to the OS and Desktop platforms. It delivers the most advanced, reliable, and powerful DJ suite to the market. Benefiting from a brand-new database infrastructure, both platforms deliver a faster, smoother, more streamlined user experience that includes a world’s first lighting integration with Engine Lighting by SoundSwitch, wireless Ableton Link protocol, a more robust Playlists/History workflow, and much more.
The most noticeable update in version 2.0 is the interface and user experience which has been redesigned and reimagined to give DJs a faster, more intuitive workflow. However, it’s under the hood where the most impactful changes can be found. Both platforms have had completely new database code written from the ground up, giving each platform new possibilities.
